On April 12, the KICT signed a business cooperation agreement with SK forest in the conference room of its Ilsan headquarters.

The signing ceremony was attended by Kim Hyun-jun, KICT Vice President for Research, and CEO Son Dae-ick of SK forest. The two organizations agreed to collaborate on advancing green technologies by establishing a cooperative system for the climate crisis response and carbon neutrality technologies in the fields of architecture, landscaping, and the environment.

The agreement holds particular significance in terms of its focus on advancing and demonstrating green technologies that address pressing social issues such as the climate crisis response and carbon neutrality. Collaboration will be a major key between the KICT, a government-funded research institution that is at the forefront of the development of construction technologies in Korea, and SK forest, a company with over 50 years of expertise in the creation and management of green spaces. In particular, this mutual cooperation will focus on enhancing low-carbon green technologies, monitoring technological advancements, quantifying the impact of landscaping spaces, establishing green building certification systems, expanding demonstration projects, and developing environmentally-friendly materials using forestry by-products.

“W are pleased that this agreement with SK forest has been made to expand the number of green buildings and to achieve carbon neutrality in conjunction with the implementation of the Framework Act on Carbon Neutrality,” said Vice President Kim Hyun-jun. “We expect this to be a starting point for not only promoting the spread of green technologies, but also establishing a public-private partnership model that supports local communities.”

“Drawing upon our more than 50 years of expertise in forestry and landscaping, we will strengthen our cooperation with the KICT to facilitate the widespread adoption of green building technologies based on scientific evidence. We look forward to working together to contribute to the creation of environmentally-friendly and sustainable urban environments for future generations,” commented CEO Son Dae-ick of SK forest.
