KICT and KAU Sign MOU for Space Station Construction

On February 4, the KICT and Korea Aerospace University signed an MOU at the KICT’s Ilsan headquarters to establish aerospace industry ecosystems. The signing ceremony was attended by KICT President Park Sun-kyu, Korea Aerospace University President Hur Hee-young, and others from both organizations.

As partners, the two institutions will collaborate on endeavors such as the installation of space stations, the development of mobility technology for space exploration, and joint aerospace R&D. The new partnership also includes plans to join the Global Top Strategic Research Groups operated by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Research Council of Science and Technology.

This MOU is expected to yield significant research in core aerospace technologies, leading to advancements such as space station installation and lunar rover development.

The KICT has been involved in space construction research since 2016 and operates the world’s largest Dusty Thermal Vacuum Chamber (DTVC), which is used to develop core construction technologies suited for the extreme conditions of space. Korea Aerospace University is renowned for its faculty, which includes highly experienced satellite and launch vehicle system developers.
