On April 25, The Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology (KICT) held a meeting with the chief technology officers (CTOs) of major Korean construction companies at its Ilsan headquarters.
An opportunity for discussions on improving business-research collaboration to drive technological innovation in the building industry, the meeting was presided over by KICT President Park Sun-Kyu and attended by seven CTOs from leading Korean construction firms. They shared their mid- to long-term outlooks on the construction industry, updates on technology trends and major developments, and opinions on how to establish a business-research collaboration model and strengthen networking. The participants agreed on the importance of regular exchanges and cooperation in joint research and policy upgrades necessary for the development and application of technology. As a result of the meeting, KICT will pursue greater engagement with the CTOs and their companies through technical exchanges and joint R&D, supporting an ecosystem for innovation in the Korean construction industry based on business-research partnerships.
