On July 29, the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology (KICT) signed an MOU at Konkuk University’s Seoul Campus administrative office to cooperate in developing new research fields and fostering talent in science and technology.

The signing ceremony was attended by officials from both organizations, including KICT President Park Sun-kyu and Konkuk University President Won Jong-pil.

Through this agreement, the two organizations will: △ select and support the activities of special faculty, researchers, and students for joint academic-research programs; △ develop and operate joint educational programs; △ cooperate on securing and carrying out joint research projects; and continue academic exchange and collaboration. With their combined educational and research capacities, the partnership is expected to create strong synergy not only in academic-research programs but also in future joint research and educational innovation.

As the only government-funded research institute specializing in construction, the KICT has established the KIST School, a special-purpose graduate school with three specialized majors—Environmental and Water Resources Engineering, Urban Convergence Engineering, and Geotechnical Space Engineering—designed to foster global talent in convergence-based construction. Konkuk University, meanwhile, cultivates field-ready talent and has robust research capacity across diverse areas including structural engineering, geotechnics, water resources, environment, architectural engineering, and digital construction technology.
