On July 31, the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology (KICT) signed an MOU in Jeju with the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Development Corp. (JPDC) to promote research and business cooperation.The signing ceremony was attended by KICT President Park Sun-kyu, JPDC President Baek Kyung-hoon, and officials from both organizations. Following the signing, technical seminars were delivered by Senior Research Fellow Chae Chang-woo of the KICT Department of Building Research, Senior Researcher Koo Bo-kyoung of the KICT Department of Building Energy Research, and Director Kim Dae-hyun of JPDC’s Housing Welfare Business Division.
Through this MOU, the two organizations are expected to enhance cooperation in areas such as smart city technologies and resource utilization, expanding zero-energy construction, implementing demonstration projects of advanced construction technologies, preserving Jeju’s water resources, and developing the water industry.
The KICT will continue to propose applications for new technologies, while JPDC will provide its ongoing demonstration complexes as testbeds, establishing a sustainable foundation for technological collaboration that leverages the expertise and resources of both parties. To ensure the effectiveness of the MOU, the organizations will hold regular business conferences and explore practical ways to further strengthen cooperation.
