Park Sun-kyu, President of the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology (KICT), has been elected as the next Chairman of the Presidents Council of National S&T Organizations. His appointment was confirmed at the fourth regular meeting of the Council for 2025, held at the KICT headquarters on December 4. President Park will serve a two-year term as Chairman beginning in January 2026.

Established in 1994 to promote exchange and collaboration among government-funded science and technology institutes, the Council comprises 52 member institutions across Korea. The fourth and final regular meeting of 2025 served as a significant occasion at which member institutes shared key policy directions and strategic priorities.

Chairman-elect Park stated that “the government places the utmost importance on the development of scientists and engineers,” adding that “member organizations will work together to strengthen Korea’s global competitiveness in science and technology.”
