The Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology (KICT) and the China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research (IWHR) held a joint exchange program to share research achievements and address key issues in the fields of water resources and the environment. Since their first meeting in 2000, the two institutes have continued their collaboration through biennial events held alternately in Korea and China. Marking its 20th edition this year, the KICT-IWHR Joint Exchange Program was hosted by the KICT in Korea from July 20 to 24.
At the joint seminar held on July 22 in particular, researchers from both institutes delivered presentations and engaged in lively discussions on a total of 12 topics. The seminar was also held in conjunction with the 25th Congress of the International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research - Asia and Pacific Division (IAHR-APD) at Songdo Convensia in Incheon, providing an opportunity to showcase the two institutes’ outstanding technological capabilities on the international stage and further expand their global academic networks.
The KICT and IWHR, a key research institute under China’s Ministry of Water Resources established in 1958, used the exchange program to share research achievements and technological needs in the areas of climate change response and water resources management, further strengthening their long-standing partnership for sustainable collaboration.
