The Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology (KICT) held the KICT Summer Vacation Science Camp for employees’ children at its Ilsan headquarters on August 6.
The event was organized to give elementary school-aged children an opportunity to visit their parents’ workplace and experience construction and science and technology firsthand. Around 40 employees and family members participated, spending a meaningful day together.
The camp featured a variety of hands-on programs tailored to children, including lectures, practical activities, and tours of research facilities. Through a lecture, the children learned about bridge safety and the importance of structural maintenance, while a simulated construction project game gave them firsthand experience of the construction process and the principles of teamwork. After completing laboratory safety training, they visited the Environmental Experiment Building, where they observed research facilities and experimental processes, further broadening their curiosity about and understanding of science and technology.
The event concluded with a commemorative photo session and the presentation of souvenirs. Participating families wrapped up the day by sharing special summer vacation memories at the KICT.
