On August 27, the KICT and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) officially entered into an Implementing Arrangement (IA) for exchange and cooperation.
The signing of the agreement by President Kim Byung-sukand USACE Commander Colonel Kirk Gibbs was attended by officials from eachparty. The IA outlines various goals and tasks designed to mutually promote information exchanges, problem solving, education, project development; and resource sharing in the areas of river environments, water resources, smart cities, smart roads, and climate change.
Established in 1802, the USACE now consists of 37,000 personnel and receives an annual funding of USD 10 billion. The organization’s cooperation with the KICT officially began in 2019.
