The Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology (KICT) and Japan’s Public Works Research Institute (PWRI) jointly hosted the 11th KICT–PWRI Joint Seminar at the KICT headquarters in Ilsan over four days beginning on November 25.
During the seminar, the KICT and PWRI shared their R&D achievements and future plans in areas including road construction, concrete technology, slope management, river engineering, and hydrological observation. Discussions underscored the importance of technical cooperation between Korea and Japan.
Participants agreed that the two neighboring countries should address shared challenges—such as flood and water disaster response, the management of aging infrastructure, and the development of eco-friendly construction technologies—through joint efforts.Looking ahead, the KICT and PWRI will continue to pursue technological innovation and enhanced disaster-response capabilities to strengthen infrastructure safety in both Korea and Japan.
