Environmental and Plant Engineering Research Institute realizes various government policies and initiates research projects that help develop technologies to mitigate damage from natural disasters and resolve social issues. It has conducted benchmarking and concluded research agreements (MOUs) with well-known global research institutes and actively promotes academic exchanges for researchers that help find solutions to issues of a global nature. It has promoted basic and original research projects as well as convergence research projects in efforts that have successfully produced World’s Best Technology (WBT). Environmental and Plant Engineering Research Institute develops core technologies to realize a creative economy, conducts research related to SOC on North Korea, and supports Korean led ODA.

Development of construction technologies for intelligent water supply facilities

  • Development of multi-resource water recycling technologies

Establishment and field assessment of large-capacity, MD/PRO composite desalination demo plants

  • Constructing and managing an MD-applied new-concept composite desalination plant with 1,000 ㎥/day of production quantity
  • Operating an MD/PRO composite desalination plant and producing maintenance guidelines

Development of a small-scale, multipurpose (for underdeveloped countries, preparing for disasters, decentralization) water purification package

  • Development of a customized water purification package system that meets local needs and satisfies the quality for drinking water
  • Development of a mobile water purification package system for emergency water supply
  • Development of a remote integrated control system for distributive water purification system

Commercialization of algal bloom reduction technologies

  • ood chain-based algal bloom reduction system

Development of sewage order reduction technology and establishment of policies

  • Research on policy establishment related to sewage order reduction and system improvement plans

  • Development of an odor origin-based calculation program for creating an odor map in the sewage system
