Hosted by KICT and organized by the National Research Council of Science and Technology, the 13th Public Safety and Technology Forum was held in the National Science Museum in Daejeon on September 26.
This year’s Public Safety and Technology Forum focused on the risk of super-typhoons and flood damage, their warning systems, and the development of flood damage response strategies with science and technology. The Hydro Science and Engineering Research Institute presented the progress of anti-flood-damage technologies and response strategies, and the Multi-Disaster Countermeasures Organization gave an overview of anti-flooding strategies.
These presentations were followed by a panel discussion where five experts discussed the government’s policy orientations, technical development, and demands from society.
