From June 7, the KICT participated in the "2018 Land, Infrastructure and Transport Technology Fair" hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) and sponsored by the Korea Agency for Infrastructure Technology Advancement (KAIA).

One of the technologies that attracted visitors was the long-life housing booth in the public welfare technology section.

Long-life housing is the fruit of the Long-life Housing Development Project Group (Director Su-Am Kim, KITC Research Fellow) which is in the fifth year of its six-year research period as part of the MOLIT construction and transport R&D project.

With the adoption of columns, long-life housing is designed so that the internal structure of a house can be easily changed according to the needs of residents when the facility and interior materials are worn out. Therefore any such house can be used as a new house even after it has been used for 100 years, and residents can freely change interior materials while maintaining the framework, saving expenses.

The Land, Infrastructure and Transport Technology Fair, an integrated event specializing in land and transport R&D that has been held since 2011, provides various events, such as policy seminars, academic forums, and business forums (meetings over technical needs) in addition to its main exhibition.
