On August 1, the KICT headquarters in Ilsan hosted a round table on water quality improvement for the Hallyu Stream in the city of Goyang. Numerous members of the Gyeonggi-do Provincial Assembly and representatives from relevant organizations participated in the round table. Notable attendees included: Minister of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, Hyun Mi Kim; Assemblywoman Eun Hye Yoo; Goyang Deputy Mayor, Bong Won Lee; and Gyeonggi-do Provincial Assembly Member, Dal Su Kim.
KICT gave a presentation on “Measures for Improving the Water Quality in Hallyu Stream”, in which it proposed a technical solution of utilizing the CAP system developed by the institute to address the water quality problem in the waterfront park on the banks of the Hallyu Stream. The presentation outlined a comprehensive water quality management plan for the Hallyu Stream and Janghang Stream, which will flow through the Ilsan Technovalley, Broadcast Media Valley, and K-Culture Valley which are slated for development in the Daehwa and Janghang districts.
The CAP System (Combined & Advanced Polishing System) is a tertiary sewage treatment and primary rainwater treatment technology that utilizes fixed, biological filter beds. The system is currently being used at the Ansan Sewage Treatment Center, Yangjae Stream in Seoul, and small-scale sewage treatment plants upstream of dams.
