On November 2 (Fri), KICT signed an MOU with the APSARA National Authority (Director-General: SUM Map) for the establishment of a traffic safety master plan at Siem Reap, Cambodia.
The MOU-signing ceremony was attended by KICT’s Vice President of Research, and Sok Sangvar, Vice Director-General of the APSARA National Authority. The MOU was about technological cooperation in satisfying traffic flow and safety needs while preserving the historical and cultural value of Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom. Specifically, the content of the MOU included a traffic master plan for the adoption of sustainable eco-friendly transportation in the Angkor Wat region; facility maintenance for the safe passage of tourists and locals; and methods for utilizing narrow roads and parking spaces.
The MOU was signed at the request of the APSARA National Authority, which manages Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom. KICT had been discussing technological issues, such as the establishment of a master plan and the adoption of eco-friendly transportation, with the APSARA National Authority since April 2017. In 2018, KICT performed an additional “study on the establishment of Cambodia’s transportation safety improvement plan.”
