On February 2, President Kim Byung-suk and KICT staff participated in the “2023 World Cancer Day - 5K Challenge” at Ilsan Lake Park.

The 5 km walking event was held as a part of a campaign aimed at reducing cancer incidences and treatment disparities throughout the world. The KICT participated in the event as a public research institution based in Goyang. The day's event was organized by the National Cancer Center, also located in Goyang, and saw the involvement of members of Goyang City Hall and the local community.

Observed every year on February 4, World Cancer Day highlights the fact that many people around the world who are diagnosed with cancer do not have access to treatment and encourages organizations to take action to solve this problem. This year's campaign theme was "Close the Care Gap."
