The groundbreaking ceremony for the Second Smart Construction Support Center was held at the Ilsan headquarters of the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology(KICT) on the morning of June 17(Wed).
Many KICT executives attended the event, including President Seung Heon Han; Vice President of Research, Chung, Moon-Kyung; Vice President of Industrial Innovation, Kwon, Soo-Ahn; Minister of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, Hyun-Mee Kim; the heads of the MOLIT Construction Policy Bureau and Technology Policy Division; National Assembly member, Yong Woo Lee, from the city of Goyang; Goyang Mayor Jae Jun Lee; News1 Editor-in-Chief, Byung Kyu Lee; and representatives from 26 corporations associated with the Smart Construction Support Center.
In addition to the groundbreaking ceremony, the event also included a MOLIT roundtable discussion on smart construction technologies and SME issues, a tour of the 26 corporations associated with the Smart Construction Support Center, and visits to the Future Technology and Convergence Research Center and the Dusty Thermal Vacuum Chamber(DTVC).
The groundbreaking ceremony was followed by the “Commemorative Symposium for the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Second Smart Construction Support Center.” The symposium began with congratulatory and welcome addresses by KICT Vice President of Research, Moon KyungChung, and News1 Editor-in-Chief, Byung Kyu Lee, followed by keynote addresses and case presentations on the topics of “The Digital Transformation of the Construction Machinery Industry” and “Environmental Changes and Promising Technologies of the Post-COVID Era”.
KICT President, Seung-Heon Han, commented saying, “The Second Smart Construction Support Center will be built through Korea’s first ‘smart turnkey’ contract. The building, established usinga modular construction method, will implement a broad range of the most cutting-edge smart construction technologies.”
