On the afternoon of November 10 (Tue), the Post-construction Evaluation Center at KICT’s Ilsan HQ opened its doors. A statutory organization, the Post-construction Evaluation Center has the aim of streamlining construction projects; by analyzing the execution process of large-scale public projects, trial and error in similar future projects will be able to be reduced.
For public works projects, post-construction evaluation involves comparing and analyzing demand, project costs and project duration with the plans following the completion of construction. The process was mandated by law in 2000, with the goal of ensuring meticulous planning and efficient execution of similar future works. Similar overseas systems include the Benchmarking Matrix operated in the United States by the Construction Industry Institute(CII), the Construction Project Post-Evaluation System of the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MILT), and POPE (Post Opening Project Evaluation) operated by Highways England.
