STI Vice Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation visits KICT

Ryu Kwang Jun, Vice Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation, visited the Ilsan headquarters of the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology (KICT) on Wednesday, March 26, to hold a discussion with experts from academia, industry, and research in the field of construction.
This discussion was part of the 35th 'R&D Smile and Empathy' initiative promoted by the Ministry of Science and ICT. The initiative aims to foster communication with the research field and the future, developing policies that resonate with the public.
The meeting was attended by prominent representatives from the construction sector, including KICT President Sun Kyu, Park, and STI Vice Minister Ryu Kwang-jun of the Ministry of Science and ICT. During the meeting, the Ministry shared key aspects of the recently established 'National R&D Investment Direction for 2026,' and participants emphasized the importance of construction technology in revitalizing the construction industry and enhancing global competitiveness.
After the meeting, STI Vice Minister Ryu visited the 'Dirty Thermal Vacuum Chamber,' the world's first research facility that simulates the lunar surface environment, to encourage the research team. Following this, he visited the Smart Construction Promotion Center, which supports the commercialization of smart construction startup companies, and listened to the opinions of company representatives.
STI Vice Minister Ryu expressed his commitment to maintaining interest in and continuing investment in research and development in the field of civil engineering and building technology.
