The KICT gave a presentation on the ‘Smart City Municipality and Service Certification System’ at KINTEX, Ilsan on September 6 (Fri), announcing a certification scheme to promote smart city services. The presentation was part of the ‘2019 World Smart City Expo’ event held at KINTEX from September 4 (Wed) to September 6 (Fri).
The presentation, jointly prepared by the KICT and the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements, explained how the smart city service certification scheme, a Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) smart city policy task, will be introduced. The presentation also explained smart city certification for municipalities and was followed by a Q&A session.
A ‘smart city’ is defined as a city where IT convergence technologies and environmentally-friendly technologies are applied to urban spaces, streamlining the urban functions of public administration, transportation, logistics, crime prevention, disaster prevention, energy, environment, housing, and welfare, among other things. The ‘Smart City Service Certification System,’ to be operated by MOLIT starting from the latter half of next year, is comprised of certifications in three areas: conformity to the smart city concept, performance, and efficiency.
