The KICT entered into an MOU for “green building development promotion” with the city of Goyang and the Goyang Chapter of the Korea Institute of Registered Architects at Goyang City Hall at 2 PM on May 4 (Tue).
The signing ceremony was attended by President Kim, Byung-Suk of the KICT, Goyang Mayor Lee Jae-Joon, Chairman Kim Young-Soo of the Goyang Branch of the Korea Institute of Registered Architects, and representatives from related organizations.
“Green buildings” are buildings which have been designed with increased new and renewable energy usage ratios and greater energy use efficiency to minimize greenhouse gas emissions.
Under the MOU, the groundwork will be laid for the development of green buildings in Goyang City, and training programs will be administered in the fields of green building engineering and construction supervision for registered architects in the Goyang area.
The parties will also mutually cooperate in developing green building construction technologies. Specifically, the “Green Remodeling and Green Retro-fitting” program will be pursued, under which superannuated public buildings will be converted or modified into green buildings.
Other measures will include reducing building greenhouse gas emissions and increasing the number of green buildings in Goyang in order to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
