The KICT and the Japan Institute of Country-ology and Engineering (JICE) jointly hosted the 34th Korea-Japan Construction Technology Seminar at KICT's Ilsan headquarters from September 24 to 27.
The Korea-Japan Construction Technology Seminar is an annual event jointly hosted by the KICT and JICE to support communication between Korea and Japan on issues related to current construction technology, and for the two countries to share progress in construction technology through technical exchanges. Korea and Japan have each hosted the event in alternating years since 1990. This year, the event was held in Korea and involved participants in the seminar venue as well as online participation by staff of the KICT and JICE.
Experts from Korea and Japan gathered in the 30th Anniversary Hall at KICT headquarters on September 25, where they gave presentations and engaged in Q&A in four sessions that addressed the subjects of river, roads, cities, housing, and regions as well as and technology and procurement.
From September 24 to 27, research personnel from Korea and Japan as national land experts from their respective countries, visited a number of locations to inspect Korea’s advanced construction and national land management technology. Their itinerary included the KICT’s research infrastructure, the Godeok Bridge (a concrete cable-stayed bridge being built to connect Seoul and Guri), the Smart City Integration Center in Anyang, and the underground tunnel being built under the Han River to extend the Second Capital Region Ring Expressway, connecting Gimpo and Paju.
