Research Division

The department has specialized research personnel, Research
domestic and international expert networks,research equipment, and facilities needed to develop economic, environment-friendly, and safe national infrastructure such as roads, bridges, and tunnels. The department carries out a wide range of advanced research and development activities related to structure foundation, tunnels, ground reinforcement/improvement, ground environment, etc. In particular, the suborganization, named as Seismic Safety Research Center, Sustainable Infrastructure Research Center, and Integrated Road Management. Research Center are committed to doing the following research objectives : ⓐto improve the seismic capability of residential buildings and national infrastructure, ⓑto improve the efficient operation & maintenance technology of aging infrastructure, ⓒto develop integrated smart and humancentered road management system, and ⓓto develop robust and safe smart infrastructure technology. In the future, the department will continue to develop various fusion technologies including safety of infrastructure to meet demand of future construction market and lead a sustainable future society.
